Dental Crowns

Crown Dentistry Charleston SC

As a cosmetic office, our goal is to provide dentistry that is undetectable. We replace existing crowns and fillings with restorations that look and feel like your natural teeth.

How long does it take to fit a dental crown?

Fitting a crown requires at least two visits to our office. Initially, we will remove decay, shape the tooth, and fit it with a temporary crown of either plastic or metal.

On the subsequent visit, we will remove the temporary crown and then fit and adjust the final crown. Finally, we will cement, or bond, the crown into place and you have a new beautiful looking tooth.

For more information about dental crowns, or to make an appointment with Dr. Beall, Dr. Christopher, or Dr. Borden, please call our office: James Island Family, Cosmetic, & Implant Dentistry Phone Number 843-795-1111. You may also use our Contact form below.

What are the capabilities of crowns?

Key Benefits of Dental Crowns

  • Replaces missing teeth
  • Offers support to misshapen teeth or badly broken teeth
  • Looks completely natural
  • Fixes “smile” and functional chewing problems

Crown and bridgework is a very reliable solution for dental problems caused from wear and tear, diseases, or accidents. Major problems can usually be corrected using these techniques. Material used in these repairs is either high-grade porcelain or porcelain bonded fused to metal (PFM).

Dental Crowns: Solutions for Cracked or Painful Teeth

Before and After Cosmetic Crowns

Many people have unexplained pain from filled back teeth, which is usually due to hairline fractures in the chewing part of the tooth. Placing crowns on these teeth can relieve the pain and allow a return of full dental function for these teeth. In front teeth, older fillings can both weaken the teeth and cause “appearance” problems due to staining or chipping. Porcelain crowns and bridges are suitable in cases where porcelain veneers are not. In teeth with root canal fillings, crowns can prevent breakage.

The April 2016 Before and After photos show the effectiveness of Dr. Christopher‘s cosmetic crown work. Before: Patient had existing crowns on 8-10.  After: Existing crowns redone and new crowns on 6, 7 & 11.

What if my crown comes off?

Because dental crowns usually take two or three appointments to complete, occasionally a temporary crown may come off. Call us at James Island Family, Cosmetic, & Implant Dentistry Phone Number 843-795-1111 if this happens and bring the temporary crown with you so we can re-cement it. It is very important for the temporary to stay in place, as it will prevent other teeth from moving and compromising the fit of your final restoration.
