Dr. Richard Beck

Dr. Beck has retired as of 2016; he plans on maintaining his license credentials to potentially assist us in an emergency. We greatly appreciate and value all of his years of patient care and his dedication to our community.

Dentist Richard Beck is a Charleston native. He grew up on James Island and graduated from James Island High School. He graduated from Erskine College with a degree in Chemistry and went on to complete his dental degree at the Medical University of South Carolina. After graduation he served for four years in several areas of our state before opening his private practice on James Island in 1976.

Dr. Richard Beck has not only enjoyed a career in dentistry but also in public service. He served for four years on the city council of Folly Beach and two terms as Folly’s mayor. He has served for the last ten years on the board of directors of Save the Light Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Morris Island lighthouse.

Justifiably proud of serving the Charleston SC area for almost 35 years now, it is his pleasure to be seeing the children of the children that he treated in his early years of practice. Every day is like a family reunion around the office.

“I am so grateful for the mentoring that I received early on in my career that led me to a build a dental practice that is as preventive as we can make it while at the same time providing exceptional care when needed.” — Richard Beck
